ABOUT US |
SONE (Supporters of Nuclear Energy) is an independent, member-funded group advocating for new nuclear power in the UK.
We bring together people from across industry, academia, policy and civil society who believe nuclear has a vital role to play in delivering safe, affordable, reliable and low-carbon energy.
We champion nuclear and work to build the public and political support, and social licence, needed to deploy it.
Through our events, visits and meetings, we also bring together a community of people who share a passion for nuclear and its future.
The UK needs nuclear.
Nuclear provides reliable, low-carbon electricity for decades, strengthen the UK's energy security and support the needs of homes, businesses and industry.
But delivering new nuclear requires more than technology and investment. It needs public understanding, political support and social licence.
SONE makes the case for nuclear openly and honestly, including proper discussion of safety, cost and waste.
SONE was founded in 1998 by Neville Chamberlain CBE and Sir Bernard Ingham to provide an independent voice for people who support nuclear energy.
Its first Chairman was Sir Christopher Harding, followed by Sir William McAlpine, Neville Chamberlain and Virginia Crosbie.
For more than 25 years, SONE bring together people from different professions, backgrounds and generations who share a belief in the importance of nuclear energy.
If you believe nuclear should play a bigger role in the UK's energy future, join us.
