Russia is “ready to supply fresh nuclear fuel and take back spent, irradiated fuel” from Iran’s operational nuclear reactor at Bushehr and any future reactors built with Russian participation, Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov said. “We are ready to do so throughout the life cycle of the respective reactor facilities”, Mr. Ryabkov confirmed. However, Russia is not ready to consider taking back any spent fuel from reactors which are not built by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom due the high complexity of the issue, he said. An outline agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme was reached on 2 April.
