Russia expects to build 12 nuclear reactor units in other countries by 2020, Atomenergoprom deputy director Vladislav Korogodin told a forum in Ukraine.
Mr Korogodin said there are currently 12 reactor units being built worldwide by Atomenergoprom, the state nuclear energy company. "We are the world's leader in this field," he said, pointing out that Atomenergoprom already had a nuclear plant construction programme that runs until 2030.
Alexander Glukhov, vice-president of Russian nuclear vendor Atomstroyexport, told the same forum that his company wanted to take part in the implementation of Ukraine's energy strategy, specifically in terms of the construction of new nuclear reactors.
He said the Ukraine market was "highly competitive" but thought Atomstroyexport would be able to compete. He also said Russia had offered to supply Ukraine with nuclear fuel.
