Bush Formally Submits Proposed US-India Deal To Congress

12 Sept (NucNet): President George Bush has formally submitted an
agreement for approval by the US Congress for proposed civil nuclear
cooperation with India.
The proposed agreement was submitted on 10 September 2008 and follows a decision on 6 September, by the Nuclear Suppliers Group, to adjust its guidelines to allow full civil nuclear cooperation between India and the international community.
Mr Bush, in his submission to Congress, said: "The agreement will reinforce the growing bilateral relationship between two vibrant democracies. The United States is committed to a strategic partnership with India, the agreement promises to be a major milestone in achieving and sustaining that goal."
