13 Jun (NucNet): Urenco says annual production capacity across the
group has reached a "milestone" 10,000 tonnes of separative work units
- which it says is sufficient to serve the fuel demands of about 100
large nuclear power plants.
The enrichment company said on 12 June 2008 that it was continuing to invest in new capacity to meet growing demand and a forward order book exceeding 18 billion euro (28 billion US dollars) beyond 2025.
Urenco has a 23 percent market share in the global market for uranium enrichment with sites in the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. The company is also building a fourth enrichment plant, the Nuclear Enrichment Facility in the US state of New Mexico, which is scheduled for first production in 2009.
