6 Jun (NucNet): UK power company E.ON has joined the Nuclear Industry
Association (NIA), a trade body representing more than 140 companies
and some 40,000 nuclear workers.
Based in Dusseldorf, Germany, the E.ON Group has around 88,000 employees in more than 20 countries. It operates nuclear power plants in Germany and Sweden.
Paul Golby, chief executive of E.ON UK, said nuclear energy is a vital part of the UK's balanced energy strategy in the future. "E.ON intends to participate fully in this nuclear future through building at least two reactors, as part of a balanced portfolio including energy efficiency initiatives, new cleaner coal, gas, renewables and distributed generation," he said.
