18 Jan (NucNet): Romanian utility Nuclearelectrica says it will float on the stock market a project company that will be responsible for the construction and commissioning of units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant.
The company told NucNet the establishment of the project company and its stock market listing are two of its major projects for 2008.
Nuclearelectrica said it is "in the negotiation process" for the signing of the association agreement for the construction of the two units, which are scheduled to be commissioned in 2013 and 2014.
In November 2007, binding offers were formally accepted from six companies for units' completion and commissioning.
The Cernavoda site was designed for five identical 655-megawatt pressurised heavy water reactor units. But a lack of financial resources and a drop in power demand in the early 1990s resulted in the suspension of construction work on units three, four and five.
