Nuclear power points
You "subtract one point" if your electricity is from a renewable source
(Agenda, 13 November). Why no points for carbon-negative nuclear power
(35 per cent of all our electricity)?
As about half the electricity generated in Scotland comes from the
burning of fossil fuels, reducing demand might reduce the total
emission of greenhouse gases. But it is a fallacy to believe that an
isolated reduction will reduce the national demand. Whatever we do,
demand will continue to increase.
The problem is not the demand; it is the way electricity is generated. The solution is more nuclear power.
