Some Finn funny about nuclear fears
ANNIE NETTLETON (Letters, 31 October) asked if the Government 'actually
believe[s] communities are going to volunteer to accept the country's
nuclear waste?
Perhaps she is unaware that, in Finland, local communities actually
competed to be chosen as the site for a radioactive waste store and
nuclear power station because of the several hundred jobs and
t[he] local tax revenues it would bring. What makes us more
fearful or less farsighted than the Finns?
