The European Commission yesterday announced the creation of two new Directorates-General (DGs) – one for energy and one for climate action.
The position of director-general at the Energy DG will be taken by Philip Lowe, a British national who is director-general in the Directorate-General for Competition.
The director-general at the Climate Action DG will be Jos Delbeke, a Belgian national who is deputy director-general in the Directorate-General for Environment.
Mr Delbeke’s DG will be created from relevant sections of other directorate-generals including environment, external relations and enterprise and industry.
