It is certainly not "well- established that nuclear power is one of the most expensive ways of generating electricity" (Dr Gerry Wolff, Letters, 10 December). Numerous studies have concluded that it is one of the cheapest. The most recent was in a written answer in the House of Commons on 11 November, 2008, which stated that nuclear power was the lowest at £38 per MWh.
If this cost is "disguised by several subsidies", then it's only fair to point to the huge subsidies received by renewable methods or the uncosted pollution produced by burning fossil fuels.
