There are several Electricity Companies who claim to be able to supply “100% Renewable Electricity” to their customers. This is not possible, and all their customers get the same “ordinary” electricity as the rest of us.
But suppose the National Grid suddenly became very clever and it did indeed become possible for everyone to specify the source of the electricity supplied to them? Given the choice, and being environmentally aware, I would choose to be supplied with electricity from “100% nuclear power sources”.
In which case I would enjoy having a highly reliable, carbon-clean, supply costing me little more than half of what I pay now. In comparison those who chose “100% green electricity” from windfarms would suffer electricity bills 4-5 times the size of mine and when the wind did’nt blow strongly enough they would have no electricity at all! At these times they would probably want to share some of mine.
