The US Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a finding of ‘no significant impact’ on the final environmental assessment for the remote-handled waste disposition project at its Idaho site.
The DOE said yesterday that the environmental assessment analysed potential environmental impacts of processing for disposition about 322 cubic metres of remote-handled waste currently stored at the site near Idaho Falls, in the state of Idaho.
An additional five cubic metres of waste stored at the Hanford Site in Washington state as it is possible that waste may come to Idaho for treatment.
